4.3. Hub Authentication

Ngenea Hub provides several authentication modes for users of the Ngenea Hub user interface.

4.3.1. Standalone

  • In this mode all users are authenticated locally by the Hub

  • No external services (E.G. Microsoft Active Directory) are used for authentication

  • This is the default mode of Hub when deployed standalone from PixStor, or on PixStor <= v6.10.x

4.3.2. Direct: LDAP/Active Directory

  • In this mode authentication is provided by an external service, typically OpenLDAP or Microsoft Active Directory

  • This mode is can be used when Hub is deployed standalone from PixStor

To configure this authenticaion mode refer to LDAP / Active Directory Login

4.3.3. Single Sign On

  • Single Sign On mode cannot be used when Hub is deployed standalone from PixStor

  • New installations of PixStor >= v6.11.x are deployed in Single Sign On mode by default

  • Upgrades from PixStor versions <= v6.10.x retain their prior authentication mode

Important

In order to utilise additional products, such as Iris, Hub’s Single Sign On service on is required

4.3.3.1. Hub Only

  • In this mode users created in Hub are added to Hub’s Single Sign On provision

  • Users added to the Single Sign On provision are readily available for future use across PixStor products (E.G. Iris)

  • No external services (E.G. Microsoft Active Directory) are used for authentication

4.3.3.2. Active Directory

  • In this mode Microsoft Active Directory is used to authenticate user’s logins to Hub using their Active Directory credentials

  • In case of loss of connection to Microsoft Active Directory, user accounts created prior to SSO enablement can continue to authenticate to Hub using their Hub managed credentials

To configure Single Sign on authentication refer to Single Sign-On / External IdP
